The Rule Book by Sarah Adams
Published: 2nd April 2024 by Headline Eternal
I received a copy of this e-book from the publisher via NetGalley. This in no way affects my review.

This book was so much fun! I would call myself a huge Sarah Adams at this point, as this is the 3rd book of hers I have read, and they have yet to be a disappointment. I absolutely adored her When in Rome duology (and secretly wish for more!), and so despite the fact that I haven't read The Cheat Sheet, which this is set in the same world as, I knew I'd enjoy it regardless. I always enjoy a good sports romance, but I didn't even mind that this hardly featured any playing, as the chemistry between Nora and Derek was so palpable that I didn't want to be distracted by any sub-plots. You could tell that they truly cared for one another, and just wanted the best for them, no matter what that looked like. I also really enjoyed the interactions between Derek and his friendship group, and the little glimpses of the relationship featured in The Cheat Sheet, which I will be sure to read soon.

To Marry and to Meddle by Martha Waters
The Regency Vows #3

I received a copy of this e-book from the publisher via NetGalley. This in no way affects my review.

I am just enjoying this series so much at the moment - I read To Love and to Loathe only a couple of weeks ago, and I couldn't wait to read another installment in The Regency Vows and see what this group of friends got up to next. Emily and Julian's budding relationship was hinted at in the previous book, so I was very excited to see exactly how their romance would pan out. Compared to the other female protagonists in this series that I have read thus far, Emily is quite meek and mild, but I found this to be a bit of a refreshing change of pace, and it was nice to see how Julian brought her out of her shell and constantly reassured her that she wasn't an inconvenience and that her voice did matter to him. I didn't find the overall plotline in this to be as strong as some of the other books in this series, but it was still very enjoyable indeed.

Happy Medium by Sarah Adler

I received a copy of this e-book from the publisher via NetGalley. This in no way affects my review.

I have heard nothing but great things about Adler's previous book, Mrs. Nash's Ashes, but I am yet to read it, so when I saw this newest book from her, I jumped at the chance to read it. However, I didn't love the deception behind Gretchen's apparent ability to commune with the dead, and although there was a level of kindness behind her intent, the fact that she did it as a living before moving on to the farm did rub me the wrong way slightly, and didn't set the book off in good stead to impress  me. I enjoyed the interactions between Gretchen and the farm's resident ghost, Everett, but didn't find Charlie's sudden belief in him to be too believable. The chemistry between them was good, but the whole 'marry me so you can leave' felt a bit ridiculous, and their reunion in the end didn't fill me with as much joy for the characters as I would've liked it to.

Young Hag by Isabel Greenberg
Published: April 18th 2024 by Jonathan Cape
I received a copy of this book from the publisher. This in no way affects my review.

Receiving a bound manuscript of this graphic novel was certainly a first for me, and one that I will always be grateful for. I have been afforded so many great opportunities to read and receive books, but having Young Hag in such a preliminary stage was so exciting! My only downside in this was it meant for a slightly clunky reading experience, as the spiral bounding wasn't the easiest to navigate - but this in no way affected the story at all! I loved Greenberg's take on a classic Arthurian legend, and one that I didn't know much about before, but am certainly interested in now. I am such a massive fan of inter-generational family dynamics, and so the three generations of women in this and their respective stories were such a highlight for me. I loved that strong women were at the helm of this tale, and once again, Greenberg's illustrations are sublime.
