Before I Blogged I Read: Anna Dressed In Blood by Kendare Blake

I started this blog a little over a year ago, so obviously there are TONS of books that I read before this blog was created. This feature, which was made by the awesome Jamie over at The Perpetual Page Turner, showcases books that we've read a long time ago. Now, this won't be like a normal review. Instead I will just be sharing some notes I had while reading it originally.

Thoughts

1. The first book that scared me when I read it. Prior to reading this book, I had never really encountered a "horror" novel before. I mean, sure, I'd seen horror films and I read some of The Ring graphic novels, but I never thought that a Young Adult book could contain some real scary scenes.

2. First ghost hunter I'd ever read about. I foolishly assumed that this job occupation was one I would never come across in a YA novel, but what do you know? I was wrong. Cas is a butt-kicking, super cool dude that is not to be messed with.

3. It definitely deserves the hype it got. As I've mentioned numerous times before, I shy away from hyped-up books. Luckily for me, I found this before it became popular (look at me, such a hipster) and almost like a loving mother, I felt such joy when I saw it get the praise it deserved.

4. Raised the bar high on my YA Horror expectations. As I'm writing this post, I am currently reading a book called Amity. Also at the time of writing this, it is NOWHERE near as good as Anna Dressed In Blood. Anna has set my standards of horror fiction very high. While this may be good on one hand, it is incredibly annoying on the other. It unfortunately means I won't enjoy some books simply because they won't be as good as Anna Dressed In Blood.

Have you read this book? Love it or hate it? Let me know in the comments below!
