The Square Root of Summer
The Square Root of Summer by Harriet Reuter Hapgood
Publisher/Year: May 5th 2016 Macmillan Children's
Source/Format: e-arc | NetGalley
(Thanks NetGalley/Macmillan!)
Rating: 4/5

I received this book from the publisher in exchange for an honest review. This in no way affects my opinion.

I was not expecting to enjoy this book as much as I did! This book sucked me in straight away, thanks to the beautiful writing and the amazing Gottie. Right from the start I was rooting for her, hating Jason, loving Thomas. I also loved the family element - the household and the bookshop and her relationship with her dad and grandad just sounded wonderful. Such a cute, whimsical book.

Read Me Like A BookRead Me Like a Book by Liz Kessler

Source/Format: e-arc | NetGalley
(Thanks NetGalley/Orion!)
Rating: 4/5

I am always looking to discover and read more diverse books, particularly about LGBTQ+ characters, so when I came across this book, I decided to try it out. I thought the beginning was quite slow, but if you can stick with it, it's worth it. I also didn't really like Ash either, but it's not one of those books where you have to like the main character to be able to like the story. This is a very powerful book, and I already have Kessler's new book to read.

Stargirl (Stargirl, #1)
Stargirl by Jerry Spinelli
Publisher/Year: April 7th 2016 Orchard Books
Source/Format: e-arc | NetGalley
(Thanks NetGalley/Orchard!)
Rating: 4/5

This book was truly a gem. I have been wanting to read this book for years, and I'm glad I finally have. Stargirl is like no other character you have read about before, and like none you will ever read. Spinelli really makes her special and celebrates her uniqueness, but possibly too much. There were times where I found Stargirl's innocence and just generally perfection to be boring towards the end. However, I would still say that everyone needs to read this book.
