Top Ten Books I'd Give To Readers Who Have Never Read YA Paranormal

Hi everyone! Welcome to Top Ten Tuesday, which is hosted over at The Broke and The Bookish. This week's topic is Top Ten Books I'd Give To Readers Who Have Never Read YA Paranormal.

1. Twilight by Stephenie Meyer (Twilight #1)

Now what would a list about YA Paranormal books be without Twilight? Although this book is one of those hit or miss ones, I still believe it deserves a spot on this list as it opened up my eyes to the world of Young Adult Paranormal.

2. City of Bones by Cassandra Clare (The Mortal Instruments #1)

This series has a variety of paranormal creatures. From werewolves, to vampires, to fairies and warlocks. It is one of the many reasons why I love this series so much and why I think it is a good book to read to be introduced to many supernatural creatures.

3. Shiver by Maggie Stiefvater (The Wolves of Mercy Falls #1)

I really like Shiver and how it gives you two sides of a werewolf story: one obviously being from the werewolf's perspective, but then the other being a human, and reading how she copes with the situation. I think it's really unique and opens up the eyes of someone who isn't familiar with YA Paranormal.

4. Vampire Academy by Richelle Mead (Vampire Academy #1)

This would be another interesting book for people unfamiliar with YA Paranormal to read as it is about a large community of vampires, as opposed to them being outcasts.

5. Hush, Hush by Becca Fitzpatrick (Hush, Hush #1)

Hush, Hush is only one of two books that I have read about angels, but I really enjoy the idea of it. I would definitely like to read more books about angels, and I think lots of people would enjoy reading about them.

6. Anna Dressed In Blood by Kendare Blake (Anna #1)

Anna Dressed In Blood is quite possibly the only YA Horror book I have ever read. I LOVED it! It was a bit different from regular YA novels, and at times I was scared. However if you are familiar with adult paranormal, I would suggest something like this to get you started with YA books.

7. Wicked Lovely by Melissa Marr (Wicked Lovely #1)

Like with Hush, Hush, I haven't read many books about fairies but I always like seeing what route the author will take. If they take the happy, fluttery fairy route, or the dark and mysterious route.

8. The Raven Boys by Maggie Stiefvater (The Raven Cycle #1)

I adored The Raven Boys for many reasons, and one of them was because of the unique synopsis. I love pretty much anything to do with magic so this is a must read from me.

9. Glass Houses by Rachel Caine (The Morganville Vampires #1)

I put this book on the list because I think it is a great book for people new to YA Paranormal. It is easy to read, and doesn't deal with anything too deep, and yet is still about the classic paranormal figure- the vampire.

10. Blue Bloods by Melissa de la Cruz (Blue Bloods #1)

This book is a perfect mix of YA Paranormal and Contemporary. It obviously covers the element of vampires but also throws in the whole Gossip Girl-esque socialite thing.

So there we go! I hope you've enjoyed reading about my Top Ten Books I'd Give To Readers Who Have Never Read YA Paranormal.
