I received this book from the publisher in exchange for an honest review. This in no way affects my opinion.

When I read the words The Paper Magician, I just knew I had to give this book a go. This book, for me, was quite slow to start, but when I got into it I did actually enjoy it. Ceony as a protagonist was fine; there wasn't anything special about her, but I could see parts of myself in her. At times Magister Thane got on my nerves, like we get it, you're dark, mysterious and brooding! However, I did enjoy the two of them together.

For a sequel, this was decent. I didn't expect the story to be as good as The Paper Magician, but it was still full of twists and turns. The storyline in this book was just as, if not ore interesting as the 1st one. I could really see this series being a great film or TV show, if done well. The romance in this one is slowly becoming more interesting, and I am interested enough in reading the 3rd book, and finishing the trilogy. I can't wait to see how it all comes to a close.

Lights Out (Doctor Who 50th Anniversary E-Shorts, #12)

The fact that this short is only 39 pages long, basically means that there simply isn't enough there to rate it more than 3 stars, even if it was phenomenal. I picked this because I really like Holly Black as an author, but I really don't like the 12th Doctor, and that kind of ruined it for me. I did like the setting of this short, being in a space station, but obviously there wasn't a lot of time for the setting, or anything else, to be developed.
