Top Ten Books That Were Hard For Me To Read

Hi everyone! Welcome to Top Ten Tuesday, which is hosted over at The Broke and The Bookish. This week's topic is Top Ten Books That Were Hard For Me To Read.

1. True Calling by Siobhan Davis

I go more in depth on why this was a disappointing read for me in my review. If you would like to read it, it's right here. So many things just felt wrong when reading this, and I didn't really enjoy it much.

2. Torn by Cat Clarke

I read this book SO long ago that I don't remember exactly why this book was hard for me to read in terms of the actual book. However, I do remember being sorely disappointed as I loved Cat Clarke's other book, Entangled.

3. Inkspell by Cornelia Funke

This book is the second in the Inkheart trilogy, and I read it because I adored Inkheart, the first book. Unfortunately, I just couldn't connect with Inkspell and barely finished it.

4. Lament by Maggie Stiefvater

This book made me so angry. I am a HUGE lover of all of Maggie's books - apart from this one. For some reason, I couldn't click with it. However, I'm planning on reading it again soon.

5. Life of Pi by Yann Martel

I heard nothing but praise for this when it came out, so I gave it a go. I cannot tell you enough how boring it was. On the other hand, I have seen part of the film and I think that was much better than the book.

6. Jessie Hearts NYC by Keris Stainton

I also have a review on this, which is here if you want to read that. I found this quite difficult to read as I only really enjoyed reading one person's POV out of the two, and that made for a slightly uncomfortable reading experience.

7. Inkdeath by Cornelia Funke

This is the third and final book in the Inkheart trilogy, and I actually ended up not finishing this book. I got about 100 pages in, and I just got so bored. I felt it was unnecessarily long, with loads of boring bits instead of exciting bits.

8. Emma by Jane Austen

This book was hard for me to get into, as it had quite a slow start, but once it picked up, I fell in love.

9. Dancing Girls by Margaret Atwood

I read this book as my mum loves her books, but I didn't like it that much. It might have been because it was a series of short stories, but something wasn't right.

10. The Diary of a Young Girl by Anne Frank

This book was hard for me to read simply because it was heartbreaking reading about events that were true. The book itself was brilliant; her diary gave you the perfect look into poor Anne's life. It was just hard for me to come to terms with the fact that the horrible events actually occurred.

So there we go! I hope you've enjoyed reading about my Top Ten Books That Were Hard For Me To Read.
